Earlier this year, Audio-Technica opened “LAB M50x,” a website that offered fans the chance to submit their own color drawings and thus participate in the creation of limited edition models for the year

2024. Participants could choose from a variety of colors, with matte or metallic finishes, for each part of the headphones, and the thousands of exciting and creative designs were then shared on various social media. A panel of experts, including the ATH-M50x product manager, then narrowed down the more than 14,500 entries to three finalists. Among these three finalists, fans of the Audio-Technica brand declared Bolivian DJ Sergio Gamarra's design as the winner, which was transformed into the special editions of the ATHM50xLAB and ATH-M50xBT2LAB headphones for the year 2024.

Speaking about his color choices, Sergio explained that: “First of all, blue represents confidence and thus reflects the distinctive qualities and reliability of the M50x headphones. Orange evokes energy and creativity, enhancing the emotion that music is able to convey. To top it off, the gray color lends sophistication and elegance, thus balancing the other colors and adding a modern touch.”
