HK AUDIO SHL LUNAR 115 XA

The Lunar 115 XA is a bi-amplified full-range active speaker that can be used both as a PA system and as a monitor. It features a 1200W peak amplifier, a 15'' woofer with a 2.5'' voice coil, and a 1'' tweeter with a 1.4'' voice coil. The frequency response of this speaker is (-10 dB) 56 Hz - 22 kHz; it reaches a peak SPL of 130 dB and has a coverage angle of 90° x 50°. The user interface features an XLR/jack combo input with volume control, accepts both line and microphone signals, receives Bluetooth signals for audio streaming, and can be connected to another speaker in the same series via True Wireless Stereo; a Thru output and a Mix Out, both via XLR, round out this speaker's I/O capabilities.

The Research Behind the New Lunar Series

To develop the new user interface, HK conducted market research among industry experts, hobbyists, and installers to identify the true needs of end users who use their products. The result is that, at first glance, features designed for professional users can confuse novice users: multi-channel mixers, complex DSPs, or advanced I/O functions-which are often not even used by the professionals for whom they were created. The Lunar Series DSP

The 32-bit DSP with a 48 kHz sampling rate, high-resolution converters, and advanced FIR filters delivers excellent sound quality, precise response, and minimizes distortion. Built-in DSP functions, such as crossovers, EQ presets, time alignment, and limiters, ensure reliable performance and excellent dynamics. Inputs and Outputs of the Lunar 115 XA

• Mic/Line Input: XLR/jack combo input with a switch to select the input signal type and a dedicated gain control. The connector accepts XLR and TRS plugs, and you can connect a microphone directly to the speaker and adjust its volume to the optimal level.

• Thru Output: A copy of the input signal can be sent from this XLR output to another speaker or subwoofer

• Mix Out: A sum of the physical input and Bluetooth signals can be sent via XLR to another speaker, a subwoofer, or a recorder.

• MUSIC: A general-purpose full-range preset perfect for stand-alone use, live applications, and suitable for all music genres

• Ext. Sub: A preset for using the speaker as a dedicated mid/high-frequency unit, perfect for use in combination with the HK Portable Sub 115 XA and Portable Sub 118 XA subwoofers

• MONITOR: A preset optimized for horizontal placement on the floor

• VOICE: Preset designed to improve vocal intelligibility and optimize speech reproduction

Bluetooth Connectivity

All speakers in the HK Audio Lunar series feature long-range Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, ensuring a fast and stable connection with smartphones, tablets, and other compatible devices. Thanks to True Wireless Stereo, once the first speaker (master) is connected to a mobile device, you can connect a second speaker (slave) wirelessly.

How do I connect a Bluetooth device?

To connect a smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth device, press and hold the Pair button for about 2 seconds to activate pairing mode. Then select LUNAR XXXX from the list of available Bluetooth devices on your mobile device. Once pairing is complete, the Pair LED will remain steady, indicating that the connection is active.

True Wireless Stereo (TWS) Connection

The True Wireless Stereo (TWS) feature allows you to connect two LUNAR speakers wirelessly, creating a complete stereo system. First, connect your mobile device to the first speaker (Master) via Bluetooth. Next, enable the TWS feature on the Master speaker by pressing the dedicated button for 2 seconds. On the second speaker (Slave), activate Pair mode and then press the TWS button on this speaker for two seconds as well. Once the connection is complete, the status LEDs will remain lit, confirming the wireless stereo connection between the two speakers.

Installation Options

• On a stand: Thanks to the Duo-Tilt feature, you can mount the speaker on a stand (or a spacer inserted into a subwoofer), choosing between a 3° or 7° tilt toward the audience to ensure optimal coverage of your listening area at all times

• Suspended mounting: 4 M8 inserts allow you to securely suspend the speakers using AP8 anchors

• Ceiling-mounted with U-brackets: Two types of U-brackets are available for all Lunar models-one for vertical positioning and one for horizontal positioning-if you need to install the speakers permanently on the ceiling. Warning: U-brackets must never be used to mount the speakers on walls!
