HK AUDIO POLAR 10 MKII

The HK Audio Polar 10 MKII is an active column speaker in black with a 2000 W peak amplifier, integrated DSP with display and controls for viewing and changing internal parameters, a 4-channel mixer, 2 XLR/6.3 mm combo inputs with phantom power, 1 high-impedance TS jack input for instruments, and a stereo RCA input with corresponding volume controls, Bluetooth 5.0 True Wireless Stereo, and an XLR output for connecting additional subwoofers or other column speakers. It consists of a subwoofer with a 10-inch diaphragm, 6 neodymium drivers for mid-range frequencies, and a high-precision 1-inch tweeter. Its frequency response (-10 dB) ranges from 38 Hz to 20,000 Hz, and it has a peak sound pressure level of 130 dB.

The new HK Audio POLAR MKII speakers

The new Polar MKII speaker column from HK Audio features six 3-inch neodymium drivers for mid-range frequencies, mounted in an aluminum enclosure with a new triangular shape that gives the design greater stability and is designed to reduce resonance to a minimum. The 1-inch tweeter provides 120° horizontal and 30° vertical coverage across the listening area. New connectors for even tighter and more secure mounting ensure signal transmission from the amplifier module and subwoofer to the mid-high driver. When the audience is seated or the Polar 10 MKII system is to be installed on a stage, it can be mounted without the middle part of the speaker bracket.

The HK Audio Polar 10 MKII subwoofer

The new birch plywood enclosure design significantly reduces resonance and ensures powerful, defined sound. The intelligently positioned recessed handles on the top and bottom make transport easy. Compared to its predecessor, the Polar 10 MKII subwoofer has a larger internal volume and offers higher sound pressure for high performance and long throw.

The integrated mixer

Polar 10 MKII features an integrated 4-channel mixer with separate volume controls for the channels and master, Bluetooth 5.0, and TWS. Two channels for line or microphone signals feature an XLR/¼-inch combo input, which can be used to activate phantom power for condenser microphones, a high-impedance channel to which a guitar can be connected directly, and an AUX channel with stereo RCA input for connecting DJ equipment, which also has a Bluetooth connection for connecting smartphones or other devices. Each of these channels is equipped with a potentiometer for independent control of the input volume. There is a separate control for the subwoofer volume and a rotary control that allows us to navigate between the DSP functions and set the master volume. There is also a mix-out output via an XLR connector that is not affected by the master equalization. This new model features a USB-C port (5 V, 0.9 A) that can be used to power smartphones and other portable devices.

Display and DSP

The display shows 4 meters by default, indicating the signal level of the 4 inputs, and to the right of that, a numerical value corresponding to the master volume. By pressing the rotary knob that controls the master volume, we can access the menu functions, and by pressing it again, we can change the selected parameter.

BT ON/OFF: We can activate the connection with an external device or select BTWS (True Wireless Stereo) to enable stereo playback on two Polar MKII systems from a device connected via Bluetooth.

PRESETS: Here we can select a factory preset for music, speech, or electronic music (DJ) playback.

PH POWER: Here we can activate/deactivate phantom power on the first two inputs.

HI EQ: Adjusts the high frequencies on the master channel.

MID EQ: Adjusts the mid frequencies on the master channel.

MID FREQ: Here we can select the frequency at which the “MID EQ” parameter is effective.

LOW EQ: Adjusts the low frequencies on the master channel.

-Equalization has no effect on the XLR mix output.

DELAY: If you want to use Polar as a delay line speaker, you can set the distance to the main system in meters in increments of 25 cm.

If the master encoder is not used for 8 seconds, the menu closes automatically and the display returns to the main screen with the 4 meters and the master volume.
