HK Audio Polar 12 MKII W is a white-colored active column loudspeaker with a 2000W peak amplifier, has a built-in DSP with display and controls to view and change internal parameters, a 4-channel mixer, 2 ¼ XLR/jack combo inputs with phantom power, 1 high-impedance TS jack input for instruments, and a stereo RCA input with respective volume controls, has Bluetooth 5.0 True Wireless Stereo connectivity, and an XLR output to connect additional subwoofers or other column units. It consists of a subwoofer that mounts a 12 cone, 6 x 3 neodymium drivers for midrange and a 1 high-precision tweeter. Its frequency response (-10dB) ranges from 35Hz to 20,000Hz and has a peak SPL of 130dB.

The New HK Audio POLAR 12 MKII W Columns

In HK Audio's new Polar MKII column, we have six 3'' neodymium midrange drivers mounted in an aluminum chassis with a new triangular shape that gives added strength to the structure and is designed to minimize resonance. The 1'' tweeter is capable of giving 120° horizontal and 30° vertical coverage over the listening area. New connectors designed for even more solid and secure attachment ensure that the signal passes from the module with amplifier and subwoofer to the mid-high end. If the audience is seated or if we have to install the Polar 12 MKII W system on stage, it is possible to mount it without the center speaker support part.

The new cabinet design made of birch wood greatly reduces resonance for powerful, defined sound, and the cleverly placed recessed handles on the top and bottom make it easy to carry.The subwoofer of the Polar 12 MKII W has an increased internal volume compared to its predecessor and offers increased sound pressure for high performance and long-throw coverage.

The built-in mixer

HK Audio Polar 12 MKII W offers an integrated 4-channel mixer with volume controls for separate channels and masters, Bluethooth 5.0 and TWS. 2 channels dedicated to line or microphone signals have a ¼'' XLR/jack combo input where phantom power can be activated to use condenser microphones, a high-impedance channel that allows us to directly connect a guitar, and an AUX channel that has an input with stereo RCAs to connect DJ instrumentation, and, again, the same has Bluetooth connection for connecting smartphones or other devices. Each of these channels has a potentiometer for independent control of input volume. We find a dedicated subwoofer volume control and a rotary encoder that allows us to navigate between DSP functions and adjust the master volume. We also have a Mix Out on XLR connector, which is not affected by the master equalization. In this new model we find a USB-C 5V-0.9A that allows us to power smartphones and other portable devices.

Display and DSP

The display shows us by default 4 meters that indicate the signal level of the 4 inputs and, on the right, a numerical value that corresponds to the volume of the master. By pressing the rotary encoder that handles the master volume we can access the menu functions, by pressing it a second time we can change the selected parameter.

-Equalization has no effect on the XLR Mix Out-

When the master encoder is not used for 8 seconds, the menu screen automatically closes and the display returns to the main screen with the 4 meters and the master volume.
