SMP (multi-level protection of the Plus series)
SMP surge protection virtually eliminates the need for service calls. Conventional surge protection circuits give up on themselves when exposed to multiple transient voltage peaks, requiring disassembly of the system and repair of the surge protection. Not so with SMP. With Furman SMP, damaging surges are safely absorbed, blocked and dissipated: no sacrificed parts, no service calls, no downtime. The uniqueness of the Furman SMP lies in its unrivaled clamping voltage, even when tested beyond the grueling USA/CIDA A-1-1 test specifications. While other designs offer clamping voltages well over 300 VAC peak (well above long accepted professional standards), the Furman SMP clamps at 376 VAC peak, 266 VAC RMS, even when tested with multiple surges of 6000 VAC - 3000 amps! This unprecedented level of protection is only possible with Furman's SMP technology.
LiFT (Linear Filter Technology)
Unfortunately, conventional AC filters/conditioners were designed for unrealistic laboratory conditions. Earlier technologies can actually degrade rather than improve audio and video performance due to the resonant peaks of their outdated, non-linear designs. Under certain conditions, these devices can increase the noise of the incoming AC line by more than 10 dB! Worse yet, the loss of digital data, the need to restart digital presets, or the destruction of digital converters are often caused by excessive voltage spikes and AC noise contaminating the device ground. Furman SMP with LiFT takes a different approach, ensuring optimal performance through linear filtering and no leakage to ground.
E.V.S. (overvoltage shutdown)
Furman's reliable overvoltage circuit protects against accidental connection to extreme voltages by interrupting the input power supply until the overvoltage condition is corrected.
Rear BNC connector
A BNC connector is available for the backlight to which any standard gooseneck lamp can be connected, such as the Furman GN-LED or GN-I (sold separately).
