The V KICK is a dynamic microphone designed specifically for the kick drum or other sources where picking up low frequencies is particularly important (such as bass guitar amps or floor toms). The sound of its capsule, specialized for the kick drum, can also be modified using the two switches on the back of the microphone The capsule of the V KICK provides a sound character tailored to the kick drum, which can be further shaped with the use of two switches on the back of the microphone. The left switch shapes the overall sound of the microphone, with two options: "Classic" allows for a more traditional kick drum sound, with a typical punch in the low frequencies and a softer sound. If, on the other hand, a more contemporary and aggressive sound is desired, the "Modern" setting emphasizes low and high frequencies. The right switch shapes the character of the microphone in the high frequencies: "Classic" allows for a typical punchy sound in the mid-highs and softer in the highs, while "Modern" provides a more open, clear, and transient-rich sound in the top-end for a more contemporary and aggressive drum sound.Each of these switches is recessed directly into the body of the microphone and requires a small flat screwdriver (or similar tool) to move. The V KICK also has a joint that allows it to be easily positioned inside or outside the bass drum. Its low profile allows it to be easily attached to the speaker hole, and the XLR cable and rod are in parallel so as to reduce cable clutter. Remember to tighten the pin securely when mounting so as to prevent the microphone from falling off during a live performance or recording.
