The Novation FLkey 2 Mini 25 is a compact MIDI controller with 25 mini-keys designed for FL Studio, featuring direct integration with the Channel Rack, Step Sequencer, Mixer, plugins, and Patterns, 16 RGB pads with polyphonic aftertouch, 8 endless encoders, an OLED display, built-in creative features, an arpeggiator, a MIDI mini-jack output, and USB-C power delivery.
The Novation FLkey 2 Mini 25 is a USB-C MIDI controller designed to integrate seamlessly into the FL Studio workflow. Its compact design, featuring two octaves of synth-action mini-keys, lets you write basslines, melodies, chords, and harmonic ideas with a lightweight, intuitive instrument, while integration with FL Studio's core features reduces the need for a mouse and keyboard during composition, programming, arrangement, and mixing.
The project was created to provide physical access to the core elements of the Image-Line environment: Channel Rack, Step Sequencer, Mixer, Playlist, Patterns, and plugins. This allows you to play virtual instruments, program drums, manage levels, adjust parameters, and control your project using a compact interface designed to maintain continuity between musical ideas and DAW operations.
The 25-key synth-action mini-keyboard offers two octaves in an easily transportable format, suitable for home studio production, on-the-go composition, and desktop setups where space is limited. The dedicated touch strips for pitch and modulation add expressive control without increasing the footprint, allowing you to adjust pitch, modulation, and sound movement while playing.
The FLkey 2 Mini 25 features creative functions designed to speed up music composition. Scale mode helps you stay within your chosen key, Fixed Chord lets you play full chords from a single key, and Chord Maps allow you to build harmonic progressions directly from the pads. The built-in arpeggiator further expands the controller's potential, generating rhythmic and melodic sequences that can be modified in real time-useful for both beatmaking and electronic music production.
The 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads with polyphonic aftertouch are one of the central features of the FLkey 2 Mini 25. They can be used to program steps in the Channel Rack, create patterns, play rhythmic parts in real time, and control instruments such as FPC, SliceX, and Fruity Slicer. Polyphonic aftertouch allows you to apply independent pressure to individual pads, offering a higher level of expressiveness for dynamics, variations, and articulations.
In your daily work with FL Studio, this section lets you switch from grid-based programming to finger drumming without changing instruments. The visual feedback from the RGB pads makes the workspace easier to read, helping you distinguish between pages, functions, and content even in complex sessions.
The 8 endless encoders are automatically mapped to key controls in FL Studio and its plugins, allowing you to adjust levels, filters, effects, and sound parameters with a more physical and precise interaction. Bank buttons let you expand control beyond the first group of parameters, while the OLED display provides immediate feedback on what you're adjusting, the parameter currently in use, and essential controller information.
This combination is particularly useful during the track-finishing phase: you can balance tracks, automate adjustments, shape filters, and adjust effects while keeping your focus on the sound. The result is more seamless control over your session, with fewer interruptions between production, sound design, and mixing.
The FLkey 2 Mini 25 is designed for FL Studio, but it isn't limited to a single environment. NKS-ready support enables a bidirectional connection with Native Instruments software and Native Kontrol Standard-compatible instruments, while Novation Components lets you create custom layouts to map pads and encoders to FL Studio, plugins, or external hardware.
The 3.5 mm mini-jack MIDI output lets you connect synths, drum machines, and other MIDI hardware instruments, making the controller usable even in hybrid setups. Mackie HUI support also allows you to work with other DAWs, maintaining a useful control foundation when switching from FL Studio to other production environments.
The included software expands the controller's functionality. The FLkey 2 Mini 25 comes with a six-month subscription to FL Studio Producer Edition, featuring over 100 instruments and effects, unlimited audio clips, stem separation, and a selection of loops, samples, and presets. Also included is Melodics educational content dedicated to Novation users, designed to develop drum pad and keyboard technique.
Novation Play, developed in collaboration with Klevgrand, offers over 80 sounds-including basses, leads, pads, drum kits, and other presets-optimized for the FLkey controls. The bundle also includes selected instruments and effects from GForce, Klevgrand, Orchestral Tools, and Native Instruments: GForce Bass Station, GForce Oberheim SEM, GForce Oberheim OB-EZ, GForce AXXESS, Klevgrand LUXE, Klevgrand Slammer, Orchestral Tools Parallel Orchestra, and Native Instruments Komplete Select, with a choice of the Beats, Band, or Electronic bundles.
FLkey MK1 was the first Novation MIDI controller designed specifically for FL Studio. The FLkey 2 Mini 25 builds on that concept with deeper integration into the DAW's core functions, more expressive pads with polyphonic aftertouch, an OLED display, and a more comprehensive set of built-in creative instruments. It's a controller designed for those who work in FL Studio and want a compact format without compromising on essential features.
