With the same controls as the keyboard model, it is perfectly suited to any occasion from studio production to live performance. 4 parts of 4 oscillators each, usable individually or in layers, 60 polyphony voices, filters and typical analog behaviors expertly reproduced for a concrete sound experience. Plus, support for MIDI 2.0 property exchange and polyphonic aftertouch.

Korg multi/poly Module: Rack-Mount and Desktop

The multi/poly module is intelligently designed to be placed either on a desktop or in rack-mount cabinets. The front panel has been redesigned to fit a standard width of 19 and a height equal to the footprint of 4 units, while the rear panel dedicated to connections is recessed to allow easy access to cables, even with any equipment mounted directly above. For desktop setups, the included brackets offer different angles for the panel, which then becomes adjustable to suit standing performances or working seated in the studio.

The instrument is fully compatible with multi/poly virtual instrument software Programs and the keyboard version, as well as a growing number of excellent third-party sound libraries. With support for MIDI 2.0 property exchange and polyphonic aftertouch, the module is an excellent complement to the controller ).

Next-generation analog modeling

The multi/poly module features redesigned filters and oscillators with exceptional sound quality-and its advances in analog modeling go far beyond the classic basic behavior and signal path. For starters, each voice has a Virtual Voice Card, whose oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and portamento circuits model variations in analog hardware components. The result is that each voice has a slightly different character, creating naturally rich timbres. You can adjust as much variation as you like, separately for each sound.

Just as in an analog synthesizer, the vocal tabs continue to work even if you're not listening to them. Envelopes evolve, so if you play a pad with a long release time, the notes you just played capture the envelope at its current level instead of starting from scratch. The oscillators and LFOs maintain their phase and the resonance continues to vibrate. The pitch of each oscillator can also vary slightly over time, simulating the slight pitch instabilities typically experienced in analog hardware.

Envelopes are an often overlooked factor contributing to the unique sounds of vintage synthesizers. The Korg multi/poly module synth includes envelope curvature presets from Mono/Poly, MS-20, Mini, Pro, ARP Odyssey and more. In addition, analog VCAs do not respond uniformly to voltage and have different thresholds for switching on and off, all of which go a long way toward influencing the character of the amplifier envelope. Again, in addition to a linear option, we have various presets derived from emulating iconic vintage analog instruments.
