This is our state-of-the-art motor drive circuit, featuring the revolutionary ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) designed to smoothly eliminate even the smallest vibrations from the motor. Technics' mission is to elevate your audio experience by pushing the boundaries of sound quality to a new level where innovation meets unparalleled performance! The first phase of the new generation of Technics direct drive turntables Coreless direct drive motor for stable rotation In 1970, Technics revolutionized the turntable industry with the world's first direct drive system. Unlike traditional belt-drive systems, our direct-drive system minimizes motor-induced vibration, providing exceptional signal-to-noise ratio and long-term reliability without the need for frequent component replacement. However, previous models had problems with "cogging" due to iron cores, which affected the smoothness of rotation. The SL-1200GR2 features a single rotor/single stator motor without an iron core, which eliminates the cogging effect and optimizes smooth rotation. Experience superior performance and extended life with Technics' cutting-edge technology. New motor drive system, ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) Discover a new level of audio precision with ΔΣ-Drive, a state-of-the-art system that leverages Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing harmonic frequencies, the new drive system eliminates motor vibration for smoother and more precise rotation, ensuring rich music reproduction. Low-noise switching circuit By using a high-speed switching power supply, we ensure a consistently stable power supply capacity with minimal ripples and buzzing. The intelligent use of a switching power supply in our turntable design not only eliminates the need for a large transformer, but also avoids the need to put in place additional measures to counteract mechanical vibrations. In addition, operation at a switching frequency above 100 kHz ensures that any potential noise is contained, preserving the full bandwidth of music reproduction for an uninterrupted and superior listening experience. Active current injection noise suppression Our innovative system combines a powerful noise detection device with a precision error amplifier. It not only detects any persistent noise in the power supply, but goes a step further by applying a reverse-phase current to eliminate noise components. The result? A power supply that exceeds the effectiveness of conventional regulators, ensuring an ideal, pristine audio environment free of low-frequency noise. High arm sensitivity at startup The arm follows the rotation of the record, ensuring a high-precision reading. The Technics tonearm is the universal S-shaped, statically balanced, traditional type, consisting of an aluminum tube, ideal for lightness and rigidity. Equipped with a high-precision gimbal and bearing, it achieves an initial motion sensitivity of 5 mg (or less) through manual assembly by skilled craftsmen. This meticulous structure ensures accurate tracking of disc grooves. It also includes a secondary weight, which provides greater flexibility should you decide to use different heads. Rigid two-layer platter with vibration damping features The advanced design of our platter ensures superior sound quality by combining a two-layer structure with a strategic damping rubber. This effectively eliminates unnecessary resonances, delivering a crisp and immersive audio experience. Through simulator optimization, we improved the die-cast aluminum part to increase inertial mass and minimize vibration, improving overall performance. The addition of reinforcing ribs at the rear further increases rigidity. Compared with the SL-1200MK5, our platter boasts more than twice as effective damping characteristics, ensuring an unparalleled listening experience.
