The G/50 connector is used in models from the Quik Lok ITALIAN STANDARD (ITST) series:

- XRL Male to <-> XLR Female microphone cable

- XLR Female- <-> -Mono Jack 6.3 microphone cable

- XLR Female- <-> -6.3 Stereo TRS Jack microphone cable

The XLR connector is commonly used for electrical connections in the professional audio and high-end audio fields. It is colloquially referred to as a "Cannon" connector, in reference to its original manufacturer: Cannon Electric. This type of connector features a locking mechanism. The XLR connector is used to carry the signal over a balanced line, allowing equipment to be connected over long distances without any loss of quality due to picked-up background noise. This is made possible by the presence, in addition to ground on pin 1 and the signal to be transmitted on pin 2, of the same signal but with reversed polarity (also referred to, incorrectly, as being 180° out of phase) on pin 3.
