Radial Engineering HotShot MD

Radial Engineering's HotShot MD is a microphone control system for music directors, technicians, and professional performers. It can quietly route a microphone signal to alternate outputs, facilitating confidential communications with the band or technical team. With noise-free footswitching and rugged tour-proof construction, it allows cues, directions, and backstage coordination to be handled without interfering with the main audio.

Notable features of HotShot MD

  • Redirects microphone signal to communicate with engineers, band members, or both
  • Noiseless switching for flawless performance on stage
  • Preserves the audio quality of the microphone
  • 100% passive circuitry requires no power supply

HotShot MD is a microphone signal switching system made of sturdy steel, especially suitable for use on tour; this tool simplifies the communication of an artist, performer or music director to the various sectors of a stage, increasing efficiency.

HotShot MD is the ideal solution for redirecting the signal of a dynamic microphone on stage: it sends the signal to main output A, when no pedals are pressed, feeding the amplification system normally. When pedals B or C are pressed instead, Output A is muted and the signal routed to Output B or C. This can be used to communicate with the band or engineers without the audience hearing anything. The pedals can also be pressed simultaneously, to talk to all participants at the same time. The moment either pedal is released, the microphone is automatically redirected to the PA system, allowing the performance to continue.

Applications of HotShot MD

Using HotShot MD for silent communications on stage

Connect the microphone to HotShot MD and connect output A to the PA system. Connect outputs B and C to separate channels on the monitor console. Pressing footswitches B, C, or both at the same time mutes the PA system output and sends the signal to the band, technical team, or both.

Using the MD as a cough silencer

No more coughing on stage. Connect the microphone to the input of the HotShot MD, output A to the PA system, output B to the monitor console for communication with the band, and leave output C disconnected. When you feel the need to cough or mute the system, simply hold down the C pedal. Release it to return to normal operation.

Using multiple MDs for more flexibility in additional communications

Do technicians and other operators need to be added to the conversation? For two-way communication with multiple people in a production situation, using additional HotShot MDs increases the ability of musicians, technicians, and engineers to communicate clearly, respond to directions, and solve problems more effectively.

Using MD to add effects on the microphone

HotShot MD allows you to add effects to your voice, allowing you to apply two separate effects channels and combine them as desired. Channels B and C can be set to activate effects such as echo and delay, respectively. Simply press and hold the corresponding footswitch to activate one effect or both footswitches to use them simultaneously. Simply release the footswitch to return to normal mode.
