Heritage Audio Motorcity EQ

Every once in a while, something comes along that is so special that it turns the music industry upside down -- and inside out. That's why Heritage Audio is incredibly pleased to present the world's first (and, moreover, perfect) reproduction of the "Holy Grail" of classic equalizers. The "MOTORCITY EQualizer." Recreated from the original Motown units owned by eight-time Grammy-winning producer, mixdown artist and innovative engineering genius Michael Brauer, Heritage Audio has left no stone unturned, recreating the unmistakably huge, punchy and warm distinctive sound that makes this EQ as legendary as the hits it helped create. The hand-brushed 10-gauge aluminum faceplate, historically accurate control layout, including custom-molded Bakelite knobs help make the MOTORCITY EQualizer an extraordinary instrument . More importantly, the unique passive EQ circuit is identical and completely faithful to the original design. The MOTORCITY EQualizer is so precise that it stands as the only equalizer available that can compete with, or even "better" than, the popular Pultec EQ. The MOTORCITY EQualizer is a fully analog passive EQ with seven frequency points accessible across the tonal spectrum. Each frequency has a rotary step selector that can provide a flat or upward or downward response of 8 dB in 1 dB increments. Frequency points go from 50 Hz, 130 Hz, 320 Hz and 800 Hz before jumping to 2000 Hz, 5000 Hz, peaking at 12,500 Hz. The front panel also features a simple in/out/off toggle switch with top knob and jewel-light power indicator. All rotary switches have easy-to-read remote "General Radio" Bakelite knobs recreated to look exactly like the originals (remember, this is not a slider-style graphic equalizer). Finally, it has a master gain control (±8 dB), again in 1 dB increments.

  • Heavy-duty rotary step switches used for all 7 equalization bands and gain control
  • UTC replica input transformer with modified turn ratio for integration into modern studios. Made exclusively for Heritage Audio
  • Carnhill output line amplifier replaces the original Achilles heel of Opamp-labs
  • In/Out/Off switch allows A/B selection of EQ settings
  • Design: 2U 19"
  • Weight: 4.7 kg
