Novation FLpad mini

The Novation FLpad Mini is a compact 8x8 USB-C MIDI controller for the FL Studio DAW, featuring 64 15mm RGB mini-pads (non-velocity-sensitive), a Channel Rack sequencer for up to 4 instruments, Graph Edit, and Custom Modes.

Developed by Novation in collaboration with Image-Line, the FLpad Mini-with its 64 RGB mini-pads-allows you to program FL Studio's Channel Rack directly, play drums and melodic instruments, manage patterns, and edit sequences via Graph Edit. The core functions are the same as those of its bigger brother, the FLpad, but the more compact design, smaller pads, and fixed velocity make it particularly well-suited for setups with limited space and for those who don't have specific expressive needs during live performances.

The same FL Studio integration in a more compact format

The FLpad Mini is not a simplified software version of the larger model. The range's main operating modes are shared: Sequencer, Note, Patterns, Channel Rack, Channel Rack Mixer, Graph Edit, and Custom Modes remain available on the Mini model as well. The hardware differences lie in the smaller size of the interface and the pads (15 mm), as well as the lack of velocity sensitivity.

64 RGB mini-pads for sequencing, drums, and melodic parts

The 8x8 matrix of 64 RGB mini-pads allows you to program sequences or directly play percussive and melodic instruments. In Note Mode, the grid can operate chromatically or be locked to a scale, while FPC, Slicex, and Fruity Slicer feature dedicated layouts. The pads operate at a fixed velocity; however, the dynamics of individual notes can still be adjusted later using Graph Edit.

Up to four sequences simultaneously in the Channel Rack

The Novation FLpad Mini offers 1x, 2x, and 4x sequencer configurations. You can therefore dedicate the entire matrix to a single instrument with 64 steps, split it between two instruments with 32 steps each, or display four instruments simultaneously across 16 steps. This makes it possible to build rhythms, basslines, chords, and melodic parts by working directly in the Channel Rack without having to open and edit each sequence separately.

Patterns, Note Mode, and Channel Rack

The Patterns view lets you create, select, delete, and duplicate project patterns. Note Mode, on the other hand, allows you to use the matrix as a surface for melodic or percussive performance, while Channel Rack View lets you select different instruments, play them, and quickly edit their sequences.

Graph Edit compensates for the lack of velocity sensitivity

The presence of fixed-velocity pads does not prevent you from programming dynamic sequences. Through Graph Edit, you can select individual steps and adjust their Velocity, as well as Note Pitch, Fine Pitch, Panning, Mod X, Mod Y, Shift, and Repeat.

Channel Rack Mixer and Project Control

Channel Rack Mixer mode transforms the matrix into a series of faders for adjusting instrument volume, while its secondary function allows you to control their pan position. Hardware controls are also available for Play, Stop, Record, Undo/Redo, Quantize, Score Log, and for navigating within the sequencer and the Channel Rack.

Four Custom Modes with Novation Components

Using the Novation Components software or browser app, you can create and save up to four Custom Modes, configuring the matrix for specific needs within FL Studio or to control other software and MIDI devices.

180x180 mm and just 380 grams

The FLpad Mini measures 180x180 mm, is just 15 mm thick, and weighs 0.38 kg. The USB-C connection transfers data and powers the controller directly, eliminating the need for an external power supply. It also features a Kensington lock slot.

FL Studio Producer Edition and Software Bundle

The Novation FLpad Mini includes a six-month subscription to FL Studio Producer Edition, as well as Melodics, GForce Oberheim SEM, Oberheim OB-EZ and AXXESS, Klevgrand LUXE and Slammer, and UVI Prime 8+. Novation's hardware warranty covers manufacturing defects for three years.
