The 4488 CORE directional headset microphone combines DPA's famous 5 mm cardioid capsules with CORE by DPA technology and the already Red Dot award-winning 6066 headband. the 4488 CORE directional headset microphone combines DPA's famous 5 mm cardioid capsules with CORE by DPA technology and the already Red Dot award-winning 6066 headband. These are the most advanced headset-safe, durable and flexible-for use in: theater, broadcast, houses of worship and conferences. The 4488 CORE directional headset microphone offers clear, natural sound, making it ideal for both speech and singing. It provides excellent off-axis rejection in high SPL situations. It effectively suppresses external sound sources making it perfect in live situations where background noise and feedback are problematic. The bass response is designed for optimal linearity 2-3 cm from the sound source. This means that bass roll-off will be relatively prominent at a greater distance-a key factor when it comes to controlling background noise and in the struggle to avoid feedback. The mechanical construction of the headset is technically very advanced The new headband, which fits all sizes, is the most advanced design on the market. It provides comfort, even during prolonged use, but without sacrificing safety. Its shape gently fits and wraps around the head and is easily adjustable. The spring mechanisms that rest against the ears are gentle, but firm enough to make you feel secure while performing. the headset can also be customized in place to fit individual performers for a perfect fit. One size fits all, adjustable headband The headband is made of stainless steel and treated with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating that makes it extremely sturdy. It can tolerate high temperatures and is impact and abrasion resistant. It has one size fits all with a simple adjustment mechanism for quick and easy resizing. Anatomically correct, it fits comfortably and wraps around the head due to its unique shape. The entire microphone has a pleasant matte appearance due to the coating that makes the headset small and less obtrusive than other solutions. It also does not add thickness to the size of the frame, as the PVD is extremely durable yet extremely thin. 2-way adjustable rod The rod can be extended or shortened so that it can be positioned at the angle of the smile. It can also be rotated up or down around a fixed point under the ear (without bending the rod) for even more precise positioning. An anti-rotation mechanism built into the shape of the arm prevents unintended rotation. A sliding locking system ensures that the rod is fixed in the desired position. The entire rod can be detached at a point below the ear and moved to the right or left side of the headband. We have also added a service connector to the end of the rod so that capsule and cable can be replaced independently if necessary. The service connector is well protected by a plastic cover that slides over the gold-plated connectors. PVD-treated microphone The beige and brown versions of this microphone are treated with a surface that mimics the color of the boom and makes the headset unobtrusive but distinguishable. Very often an antipop (included) is preferred on a directional headset because of its greater sensitivity to wind and plosives. This is due to the operating physics of a directional microphone. Read more in our Mic University article: Testing microphones against wind noise 3-point ear support Our headset's ear mounts are equipped with extraordinary technology. Most headsets use a 1- or 2-point support system, on top of the ear or (sometimes) under the ear. This headset relies on a 3-point support system, adding a support area behind the ear that gently presses inward. This not only makes the headset more secure around the head even in dynamic situations, but also extremely comfortable to wear for long periods. In addition, the advanced, ergonomic shape of the ear supports fits perfectly around the shape of the head. 90° Cable Management System The headset has a cable guide on the back of the headband, so the cable can be easily managed by discreetly running it over the performers' back. The cable guide slides from side to side, so it can be moved, for example, to the side opposite the camera. The special construction protects the cable from arm movement to prevent it from being pulled inadvertently. This helps ensure longer microphone cable life. The cable is often the weak point of these types of microphones, but we have chosen to use a cable of the same size (Ø 1.6 mm) as those used on other models. These cables are extremely strong, do not snag, and have an inner Kevlar core that resists violent tearing, representing the highest standard on the market. The cable and capsule design ensure immunity to noisy wireless devices. These microphones are typically connected to a transmitter, and a full range of adapters is available to connect them to the many wireless transmitters available. When used with an adapter, the connector is our MicroDot, but we also offer wired versions to fit popular systems such as Shure and Sennheiser. All of our connectors come with a sturdy cable clamp.
