With the PBR-8, you can easily listen to a chain of signals, reroute it, split it via one of the mult patchbays, send it to modules in another rack, reroute it back and then output it-all from the PBR-8. front panel. This format excels in its potential for rapid sound composition, however, it has been greatly limited by the lack of flexible routing options without the use of expensive external patchbays and cabling. The portability and compactness of the 500 series format has always been undermined by the need for bulky, 19" rack-mountable patchbays. The ability to use a 500 series setup in a live performance has been hampered by the need to carry heavy snakes and access to the back panel on stage, without an easy solution to connect the modules in separate racks. Black Lion Audio has never settled for industry conventions or what is considered "good enough." They tackled this problem with the goal of providing features and performance never before available. The Patchbay Rack 8! features a fully balanced TT/Bantam patchbay, the PBR-8 has unlimited routing options to quickly dial in sounds that do not require modules to be loaded in any particular order. Easily test a signal chain, reroute it, split it using one of the built-in "Mults," send it to modules in another rack, route it back, then send it, all from the front panel! Providing a stable and reliable power supply has long been one of the problems plaguing the 500 series format. To solve this problem, the PBR-8 features OST (On Slot Technology) developed in Europe by Heritage Audio. This technology allows us to take advantage of individual adjustment per channel, ensuring that noise, power supply problems or crosstalk from one module does not affect the other modules. The powerful power supply provides a maximum of 400 mA per track per slot, with a total of 1.6 A (1.8 A non-continuous) per track, whichever is reached first. Together with the patchbay, the OST not only makes the PBR-8 one of the quietest and most reliable 500 series power supplies, but also the most functional and flexible power supply ever built.
