TM-70T WH is a precision chromatic tuner combined with a metronome, with the two functions available simultaneously. It has a wide frequency sensing range (C1-C8), making it usable with almost any instrument, including transposing instruments (F - B♭ - E♭), its chorister is adjustable, and it can be connected to the CM-400 contact microphone (optional) for more accurate tuning. The metronome section offers a speed range from 30 to 252 BPM, with 3 types of tempo settings and 15 variations. All operations are monitored by a high-visibility display. TM-70TWH is made with low-power circuitry for longer operating range.
The tuner section of TM-70T WH quickly and accurately detects the pitch of wind and string instruments. This is displayed via the Virtual Needle LCD Meter in a wide response range from: C1 to C8. This sensing range (C1=32.70Hz - C8 = 4186.01Hz) allows the TM-70T WH to be used with instruments that produce low frequencies, or have many harmonics that are often difficult to detect, and acoustic instruments such as guitars and ukuleles. The CM-400 contact microphone (sold separately) can be used to transmit instrument vibrations directly to the tuner for even more reliable tuning, but more importantly, independent of ambient-induced noise. The Virtual Needle LCD Meter uses KORG's proprietary technology to accurately and without delay detect each frequency, also allowing the performer to control the frequency fluctuation that tends to occur with long sounds of wind instruments, thus helping to develop and improve the sound output. The new transposition function facilitates the use of TM-70T WH with band or orchestra transposing instruments, where the note actually played differs from the name of the note written in the score, now in addition to the usual C transposition it is now possible to switch to F, B♭ and E♭ transposition.
In an ensemble such as a band or orchestra, harmonies of third intervals can be perceived as out of pitch and can be corrected by the performer by adjusting the pitch to a pure major or minor third. TM-70T has Markers that indicate these pure major and minor thirds by simply adjusting the needle to coincide with these markers*. This function is ideal not only for orchestral instruments, but also for a cappella vocal music. * By tuning a pure major or minor third, the specific note to be adjusted depends on the musical repertoire being played
The Sound Out mode of the TM-70T WH allows you to tune by ear by listening to a reference tone from the internal speaker or a connected pair of headphones. The reference tone can be selected within three octaves from: C3 (130.81 Hz) to C6 (1046.50 Hz).Thanks to this extension, it can be used with a wide variety of instruments.
The Sound Back mode generates the reference tone closest to the frequency you are playing, simultaneously indicating on the Meter the input pitch. This mode allows both visual and auditory pitch control, enabling you to tune more accurately, and is also an ideal ear training exercise. * This function is available when there is a connection to either the INPUT jack or the headphone jack (or both)
Variation of tempo speed can be set by three different methods: Pendulum Step allows you to increase or decrease the tempo speed as in the old pendulum metronomes. Full Step allows you to set the tempo in single Step increments in the range 30-252, and Tap Tempo which sets the speed by simply tapping in time on the dedicated TAP key. There are 15 different preset rhythms available (*), including metrical indications from 0 to 9, duines, triplets, triplets without middle notes, fourths and fourths without middle notes. Tempo speed can be freely adjusted in the range of 30-252 BPM. Sophisticated rhythms such as triplets or quatrains without middle notes are used in a wide range of styles, from classical to rock and jazz. * They use tuner and metronome at the same time; you cannot select: triplets, triplets without the middle note, fourths or fourths without middle notes
TM-70T WH is made in Japan to ensure the highest possible quality control. In 1975, KORG introduced the Needle Meter concept still the basis of modern tuners, and was one of the first companies to produce compact tuners. TM-70T includes all of KORG's tuning-related technology, expertise and decades of experience, and is a good, reliable and accurate partner that can support and enhance your performance.
