The Shure MV88 USB-C is a professional-grade stereo condenser microphone designed for high-quality audio recording on smartphones, tablets, and computers equipped with a USB-C connection. The dual-capsule design in a Mid-Side configuration, coupled with frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and up to 24-bit / 48 kHz conversion, enables detailed, consistent, and easily controllable recordings in a wide variety of operating contexts, from mobile video production to spoken word to music and field recording. Mid-Side Architecture and Advanced Stereo Image Management The MV88 USB-C adopts a Mid-Side configuration with two coincident 10 mm capsules: a front-facing cardioid for direct source capture and a side-facing bi-directional one for the environmental component. This architecture allows precise adjustment of the stereo image width while maintaining high mono compatibility and offering superior control over traditional stereo configurations. The Raw Mid-Side mode also allows separate signals to be recorded for decoding interventions and stereo manipulation even in post-production. Particularly suitable for ambient shots, acoustic music, ensembles, soundscapes and video productions where accurate spatial management is required. Selectable Polar Patterns and Adaptability to Shooting Contexts The microphone allows selection of different polar patterns: adjustable stereo, mono cardioid, mono bidirectional, and Raw Mid-Side. In stereo mode, the width of the shooting field can be adjusted to match the microphone to the size of the sound source and the surroundings. Mono modes, on the other hand, allow you to focus capture on one or two specific sources, improving intelligibility and reducing ambient interference. Cardioid for single voice and podcasts, bidirectional for two-voice interviews, stereo for music and environmental recordings, Raw Mid-Side for productions intended for advanced editing. Built-in DSP and full control via MOTIV ecosystem The MV88 USB-C's built-in DSP includes Auto Level Mode optimized for voice, limiter for distortion prevention, multistage compressor, 5-band equalizer, selectable high-pass filter, and real-time noise reduction. All parameters are manageable via Shure's MOTIV Audio, MOTIV Video and MOTIV Mix applications, which also allow creation and recall of custom presets, signal monitoring and recording management directly from the device. Ideal for mobile recording, non-acoustically treated environments and situations where consistent levels need to be maintained without constant manual intervention. Swiveling design, ruggedness and operational flexibility All-metal construction ensures durability and reliability over time. The microphone body can be swiveled up to 90° to accommodate vertical or horizontal shooting, while maintaining proper stereo orientation with L/R indicators and a channel reversal function.
