Primacoustic STRATUS Beige

Primacoustic Stratus is a rectangular ceiling-mounted sound-absorbing panel, ideal for acoustic treatment in any room, available in Beige. Each panel measures 61 x 122 cm and is 51 mm thick. In this version, the panels feature a 90° edge. All mounting hardware is included with the Primacoustic Stratus.

Attractive and very affordable, the Stratus panel is shipped as a kit and can be easily assembled in just a few minutes using a simple screwdriver. The kit includes a 51mm-thick acoustic panel made of high-density glass wool (96 kg/m³) and all the hardware needed for installation. The glass wool is enclosed within a protective micro-mesh, and the edges are resin-coated to minimize the escape of glass fibers (which are non-toxic). To enhance its aesthetic appeal, the panel is covered with an acoustically transparent beige fabric.

The suspension hardware consists primarily of two lightweight aluminum tracks and L-brackets that form a rigid frame around the panel. To hang the Stratus panel, simply attach the included suspension cable to the frame. All hardware and components needed to mount the panel to the ceiling are included in the kit.

How the Primacoustic Stratus Panel Works

The Primacoustic Stratus absorbs sound energy produced by speakers by converting it into heat. The sound energy, which travels through variations in air pressure, penetrates the panel, causing the tiny glass fibers to vibrate and generate heat. This thermodynamic energy transfer effectively absorbs direct sound energy and prevents it from reflecting back into the mixing position (sweet spot).

On its own, the 51mm-thick glass wool panel is 100% effective for frequencies between 400 Hz and 20 kHz. To enhance absorption and control an even broader frequency spectrum, the Primacoustic Stratus can be angled to vary the air gap between the Stratus and the ceiling. This allows the panel's surface to also absorb any reflections from the ceiling.

How and Where to Install Primacoustic Stratus Panels

Primacoustic Stratus Cloud panels are easy to install using simple household and DIY tools. Start by measuring the width of your console/desk and your desired listening area. For example, if your mixing position is 150 feet to 190 cm wide, three Stratus panels would effectively cover that range. The best way to install the Stratus is to hang it above the console using the included eye hooks, securely fastened to the ceiling joists. Caution! Having a Stratus panel fall on your head or onto your precious equipment is the last thing you want to happen! (Even though the panel is lightweight.) So be sure to consult a professional if you don't feel confident installing the panel yourself. Once the hooks are installed, hanging the Stratus is easy! Just loop the cable around the eyelet and attach the SlipNot bracket to the cable.

All Primacoustic panels are lab-tested for acoustic performance and fire safety. Class A/1 fire-rated, they meet the stringent ASTM-E84 and CAN-UL S102 requirements for flame spread and smoke development. This makes Broadway panels safe for use in commercial, government, and institutional installations.
