Radial Engineering Twin City Bones

RADIAL ENGINEERING's Twin-City is an ABY active selector switch for guitar or bass that allows one instrument to be connected to two amplifiers at the same time and switched between them without induced noise, loss of gain, or degradation of the original signal.

Notable features

  • Class A amplifier switch with Drag Control
  • Isolated output to eliminate hum and buzz
  • 180° polarity reversal to put both amplifiers in phase
  • Operation with standard 9-volt power supply

Active circuitry for silent switching

Radial Twin-City uses a class-A input buffer to drive the amplifier outputs, thus reducing noise susceptibility and allowing silent switching on stage. To eliminate hum and noise due to ground loops, Twin-City is equipped with an isolation transformer on the B output, Ground Lift, and a 180⁰ reverse polarity switch that ensures precisely the correct phase between both amplifiers. At the input, there is also Drag Control load control that allows natural loading on the pickups by simulating direct connection to a tube amplifier, thus preserving the natural timbre of the instrument.

USAGE and APPLICATIONS

Use Twin-City with two guitar amplifiers

Very annoying hums and noises can sometimes originate from combining two amplifiers. Twin-City eliminates this problem with an isolation transformer and a polarity reversal switch that puts both amplifiers in phase.

Using Twin-City as a channel selector switch

Changing channels on vintage amplifiers is now possible with Twin-City. Connect the two Twin-City outputs to the two channels and make sure they are in phase by adjusting the polarity reversal control 180°!

Use the Twin-City with two bass amplifiers

Twin-City works is also perfectly compatible with bass amplifiers, connect your amplifiers as in the diagram and select according to the song to be performed the one with the preferred sound
