Radial Engineering SGI-44

Radial SGI44 is a balanced guitar and bass interface and signal driver with discrete Class A circuitry and isolated transformers, designed to transmit and receive signals over long distances without loss of quality and free of noise.

Notable features

  • 100% discrete Class A active audio circuit with isolated transformers
  • Drag Control to adjust input impedance and improve the feel of passive guitars
  • Two-way: send and receive signal for effects loops or remote connections
  • Transmission over long distances up to 100 m (300 ft) without signal loss
  • Ground lift to eliminate noise from ground loops
  • External power supply included 15VDC/400 mA

Radial SGI44 is a guitar and bass signal interface that combines Class A active buffering, transformer isolation, and Drag Control impedance control to maintain tonal and dynamic integrity even over long cable runs. With bidirectionality and both XLR and ¼ connections, it allows you to connect pedalboards, wireless receivers or remote amps without compromising noise or loss of detail. Rugged construction and ground lift facilitate use in professional environments.

Key Applications

Extending guitar/bass signal over XLR cables over long distances (up to 100 m) without degradation.

Connecting remote pedalboards to switching and amplification systems.

Signal interface between instrument and mixer or low-noise recording systems.

Creative use in studios or crowded stages for advanced routing of effects loops.

Using the SGI 44 with the Radial JX44

Radial JX44 has a built-in SGI-44 to facilitate remote effects routing. Simply connect the JX44 to the SGI-44 using a pair of XLR cables to route the signal from the wireless receiver bank to the pedals and vice versa. The SGI-44 allows you to incorporate a pedalboard as if it were directly connected, but without noise or signal loss.

Using the SGI-44 in the studio

Radial SGI-44 allows you to play guitar using your 100-watt amplifier in an isolated room while listening to the performance in front of studio monitors. Plug your guitar into the first SGI-44 and connect an XLR cable to a second unit using the studio's XLR connection lines. Connect the amplifier to the other end. Adjust the Drag Control to correct the load and optimize the signal to get the right feel, and you're ready to go!

Using the SGI-44 on a concert stage

Routing the guitar signal from the wireless system to pedals and amplifiers is usually problematic due to induced electromagnetic fields and noise caused by ground loops. The SGI-44 solves this problem with a 100% isolated signal path and easy connections. Place one SGI-44 near the wireless receiver and a second on the pedalboard. Connect the XLR cables and you're ready to go!
