Radial Engineering Hot Shot ABo

Radial Engineering's HotShot ABo is a switch that can take a balanced input signal and route it to two different destinations. Switching is done quietly via a sturdy Toggle pedal, it features Attenuation Pad, Ground Lift for signal optimization; Input and dual Output with XLR connectors, its passive circuit design requires no power supply.

Notable features

  • Redirects a balanced signal to two different destinations
  • Turns outputs on/off or mutes audio with a Toggle footswitch
  • Selectable output pads to optimize signal levels
  • Fully passive operation, no power supply required

Redirect signals to the stage

The Hotshot ABo accepts a balanced XLR input and switches it between two destinations using a passive Toggle footswitch on stage. This makes it ideal for a variety of applications, such as feeding two channels on Mixer for Dry/Wet effects management; diverting a dynamic microphone from the PA system to monitors or to an intercom system; or to temporarily mute the signal for sudden coughs. Pressing the footswitch keeps the last output selected until it is pressed again.

Applications of the HotShot ABo

Using the HotShot ABo for Wet/Dry effect management on vocals

Hotshot ABo allows control of a reverb echo effect to the singer directly on stage! simply connect the microphone to the input of the ABo and send the outputs to two separate channels on the Mixer, setting one with the Wet effect the other to Dry, now the singer can independently choose two different levels of effect on their voice.

Using ABo to communicate with the band on stage

Using in-ear monitors, talking with band members is impossible, ABo makes it possible instead, just connect the microphone to ABo with output A routed to the vocal channel on the Mixer, and output B the in-ear monitoring system instead, this way it is now possible to commence with the band at all times.

Using ABo to mute coughs

Turning off a microphone momentarily on stage can reduce feedback, but it can also help in awkward situations by muting the microphone for example in the case of sudden coughing fits.
