Radial Engineering Space Heater

The Space Heater is an eight-channel Summing Valve Mixer with high-voltage overdrive valves.

Designed as a character box, the Radial Space Heater packs eight tube channels into a compact 19-inch space with individual drive and output for each channel. The 3-position 'HEAT' switch allows the user to switch between 35, 70 or 140 volts to adjust distortion or go over the top with full saturation with a touch. Each channel can be used individually or all eight channels can be mixed into a stereo bus (useful, for example, to bulk up the sound of a drum kit). A built-in headphone amplifier is available for monitoring or troubleshooting. Connections to and from the Space Heater are supported with ¼ TRS balanced sockets and 25-pin D-sub to XLR in the main output.

4 stereo pairs, with 1/4 TRS or D-sub connectors for quick connection to a workstation. The 4 stereo pairs can be used independently or be sent to a stereo mix with the Left and Right outputs.
To control the effect on the valve, each channel pair has a separate control to increase or decrease the signal to be sent to the 12AX7 valve and a level control to adjust the output. Heat switch allows the user to send 25, 50 or 100V to the valve depending on the desired fidelity. HPF for each pair of channels. All 8 channels have send and return (jack). The jack send does double duty as a second output along with the D-Sub for parallel processing. The master has a simple volume control, headphone output, connections on XLR or TRS. A 19 rack unit with 14-steel casing for rigidity and maximum shielding. External power supply accepts 100 to 240 volts.
