OT-120 is a chromatic tuner for orchestral instruments made with elegant design, high performance, and user-friendly functions. It has a dual display, a needle indicator that is visible in all conditions, and a backlit LCD screen, which displays the battery level, audio output, tuning fork, note name, and pitch, while a Dial selects the operating modes. It also possesses a rear stand that supports the unit. The silver aluminum finish further emphasizes its elegant and professional appearance.
The wide range covered by OT-120 (A0 to C8), allows tuning of any band or orchestral instrument: woodwinds, brass, strings or keyboards. OT-120 also has reference frequency (chorister or tuning fork) calibration, adjustable from A4 = 349 to 499 Hz (by Steps of 1 Hz), which allows it to support all concert tuning forks.
Any wind instrument can be tuned comfortably; in fact, twelve types of transpositions are available, both sharps and bemolars. The multi Temperament function also provides eight presets with the most popular historical temperaments, often used with period instruments.
To display tuning OT-120 uses a precision needle indicator. The faster or slower response with which the needle responds to the input signal can be adjusted to 3 different levels. You can also choose between two tuning modes: Auto, which automatically detects the pitch of a single note played on the input instrument, or manual, which allows you to specify the name of the desired note. In manual mode, the movement of the needle is displayed in a range of +- 500 cents, which allows fluctuations in pitch to be displayed over a very wide range. In addition, LEDs located below the needle indicator indicate the pitch differences until the right pitch is reached. The excellent visibility of the needle indicator and LEDs make tuning easy even in poor visibility conditions.
The OT-120 is designed with low power consumption circuitry; in fact, with two AAA batteries, more than 100 hours of continuous operation can be achieved. An optional AC adapter (sold separately) can also be used for power.
OT-120 can generate a reference signal with a five-octave extension from C2 (65.41 Hz) to C7 (2093 Hz). During tuning, the reference signal can be heard simultaneously by two or more musicians. Two different output levels can be selected. The built-in speaker always allows the reference signal to be heard optimally.
This function allows you to connect a contact microphone to the input jack, as soon as a sound is produced by the connected instrument, OT-120 automatically generates a reference signal from the frequency closest to that produced by the instrument itself. The indicator also displays the input frequency, allowing for more accurate tuning than is possible with just the ear.
OT-120 also has a built-in microphone that allows it to easily detect the pitch of any acoustic instrument.
