CA-50 the pocket-sized, portable chromatic tuner from KORG is the ideal solution for checking the intonation of all orchestral instruments. Easy and intuitive to use, it possesses high-precision functions with a large display that can be seen under all operating conditions, a slim and compact design, and a long operating range.
CA-50's LCD screen has a virtual needle indicator to quickly and accurately display pitch, while the detected note name is shown in the center of the display itself. The displayed note name is now larger and easier to read. This ensures simple and straightforward operations, ideal even for beginners.
CA-50 possesses frequency sensing between A0 (27.50 Hz) to C8 (4186.01Hz). This wide range makes it possible to tune almost any instrument, such as wind instruments: from piccolo to tuba, strings from violin to double bass, etc., in both band and orchestra.
The frequency is quickly and accurately detected by the built-in high-sensitivity microphone, but to achieve an even greater degree of accuracy, a special CM200 contact microphone (optional accessory) can be connected, which sends instrument vibrations directly to the tuner, unaffected by its surroundings.
The calibration function supports a wide range of standard reference frequencies, (chorister), adjustable from 410 to 480 Hz, in steps of 1 Hz. This ensures accurate and versatile tuning for songs of any style or key.
The measuring scale of CA-50 has markers that indicate pure major or minor third intervals. These markers are of great help when intoning wind instrumental ensembles, or for a cappella choirs, to achieve consistently accurate harmonic results.By intoning a pure major or minor third interval, the specific note to be intoned depends on the type of music being performed.
Sound Out mode activates a reference signal from the internal speaker, allowing you to tune by ear. The reference signal has a range from: C4 (261.63 Hz) to C5 (523.25 Hz). This makes it possible to tune the instrument with an acoustic as well as visual aid, for a more accurate end result. This is also a practical way to develop and practice individual pitch perception.
CA-50 has an operating range of 135 hours (with zinc carbon batteries). When the batteries are about to run out, the display shows an appropriate indicator to suggest their replacement.
A newly designed mechanism reduces the chances of the unit tipping over, also decreasing the risk of it slipping or falling when placed on a music stand. This allows the musician to concentrate on performing without fearing for the tuner.
The Memory Backup function stores the calibration, and Sound Out mode settings, even after the unit is turned off (during battery replacement these settings are initialized). Auto Power Off automatically turns the instrument off after 20 minutes of inactivity.
The folding stand gives added stability to the tuner, while the sliding battery compartment cover is designed as a single piece, integral with the unit itself, eliminating the possibility that it could be misplaced when replacing batteries.
