Radial Engineering Catapult TX4L

Radial Catapult TX4L is a 4-channel passive transmitter of Line.signals designed to send balanced audio over Cat 5/Cat 6 cables. Ideal for studios, fixed and live installations, it reduces bulky cables, eliminates ground loops thanks to isolation transformers, and provides a clean, reliable signal over long distances while simplifying professional routing

Notable features

  • Audio transmission over Cat 5/Cat 6 simple and cost-effective solution
  • Isolation using transformers to eliminate noise and ground loops
  • Rugged and reliable construction for studio, broadcast and live use
  • Extended compatibility with the entire Catapult series

Radial Engineering's Catapult TX4L is a 4-channel line-level audio transmitter designed to send balanced analog signals over a single shielded Cat 5/Cat 6 cable. It is part of the Catapult series, a passive analog audio snake system that replaces traditional multi-core cables with a lightweight, cost-effective infrastructure ideal for fixed installations, studios or professional-level live sound. The TX4L version is equipped with line-level isolation transformers, useful for eliminating hum and ground loops in complex audio paths.

Electrical performance

  • Frequency response: 7 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Dynamic range: 140 dB
  • Total harmonic distortion: 0.0007 % @ 1 kHz
  • Common mode rejection: 113 dB
  • Max. input level: +35 dBu

Construction and reliability

Chassis: 14-gauge steel with rugged, heavy-duty powder coating

XLR connectors: fiberglass-reinforced nylon and nickel-silver contacts

Protection: bumpers on RJ45 connections and ground lift switch for tour resistance and fixed installations

Typical Applications

Catapult TX4L is ideal for sending balanced audio signals over long distances by taking advantage of Cat 5/6 infrastructure already present in buildings, corporate installations, or live facilities. It is perfect as a transmitter for Line out signals from mixers, playback or processing units to RX4L receiver units or other compatible equipment, maintaining a clean, interference-free signal.

Using Catapult as a return cable

The Catapult is the perfect return cable for corporate events where you need to connect a pair of lines to the stage and monitors. Use the RX4L line isolation module to eliminate ground loops.

Using Catapult as a 4-channel microphone splitter

Use Catapult TX4M to split microphones between the monitoring desk and front of house with Eclipse transformer isolation to provide a noise-free signal, saving hours of tedious troubleshooting.

Using the Catapult as a Sub Snake on stage

Stage cleanliness and reduced set-up time have become essential elements in production. Use Catapult at the front of the stage or next to amplifiers to create quick deployment zones.

Using Catapult as a line isolator

Catapult RX4L is the perfect 4-channel line isolator. Simply connect it inline with any line audio device to eliminate hum and noise caused by ground loops.

Using Catapult to network audio

Use the Cat 5 or Cat 6 cabling already in the building to network audio from one room to another through walls. XLR connectors at both ends make it easy.

Transmit four AES signals over one platform with Cat 5 cable.

110 Ohm AES signals can be easily transmitted over Cat 5 and Cat 6 Ethernet cables. Connect to the four Catapult TX4 XLR connectors to get eight audio channels for remote recording.

Main technical features

  • Audio circuit type: passive splitter with isolation by line-level transformers
  • Inputs: 4 x XLR female for line-level signals
  • Outputs: 4 x XLR male isolated via transformers
  • Cat 5/Cat 6 transmission: RJ45 Ethercon connectors for secure and durable connection
  • Ground lift: switch for ground disconnect on Ethernet connection and ground loop reduction
