Genelec, a world leader in professional audio monitoring solutions, introduces 8380A, a three-way midfield main monitor with SAM technology, joining The Main Ones family alongside the flagship 8381A.

Designed for accurate sound imaging and neutral reproduction, 8380A is the natural choice for high SPL applications in medium-sized control rooms, including professional recording studios, mixing and mastering, as well as premium home audio contexts.

Equipped with a highly linear 380 mm (15) woofer and Genelec's world-patented MDC (Minimum Diffraction Coaxial) technology for the mid-high section, the 8380A delivers exceptional dynamics, great headroom, high SPL capability and extremely low noise level. With accurate, time-aligned reproduction and unparalleled directivity control, the 8380A's power is perfectly balanced by its precision. Stable stereo imaging and phase coherence ensure fatigue-free listening no matter how long the session lasts, and even at close range the 8380A delivers uniform sound that is never colored, allowing the user to trust every detail at any volume level.

The 8380A's cabinet uses two front reflex ports, which ensure extremely clean low-frequency reproduction even at the highest levels and allow for traditional flush-mounting (soffit mounting). The DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide), characteristic of Genelec, houses the MDC mid-high coaxial driver, contributing to extremely transparent on- and off-axis audio. Time domain performance is also excellent, with low system latency and perfect phase alignment with the other 8300 Series models, The Ones and The Main Ones, allowing the user to freely combine different SAM monitors in the same system.

Innovation also extends to the integrated RAM-L2 amplifier module, with fan-less zero-noise design, which includes a 500 W Class D power amp for the woofer, a 250 W amp for the midrange, and a 200 W Class AB amp for the tweeter.

In keeping with Genelec's commitment to sustainability, the 8380A provides low standby power consumption and intelligent power management with ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) technology. The technical specifications are impressive: frequency response from 29 Hz to 43 kHz, maximum short term SPL of 122 dB, and an exceptionally low noise level of 0 dB SPL. In addition, the 8380A shares the same physical dimensions as the three-way 1038 and 1238 monitors, making it an ideal upgrade for owners of these beloved midfield models.

As part of the SAM family of monitors, the 8380A's internal DSP integrates seamlessly with Genelec's GLM software, which allows entire SAM systems to be configured, calibrated, and controlled. Based on the experience of thousands of studios around the world, GLM analyzes and reduces the influence of the room on listening, allowing the user to produce mixes that translate perfectly to other systems, whether in stereo, surround or immersive multichannel formats. GLM also includes the innovative GRADE Room Report feature, which provides a comprehensive analysis of room and monitoring system performance, offering targeted observations and advice on any acoustic issues. This helps users and designers optimize acoustic treatment, monitor and listener position, and low-frequency management.
