Heritage Audio 73 DI 2

Heritage Audio's 73 DI 2 is a two-channel active Class A DI box with discrete JFET input stage and 73-DI output transformers designed by Heritage Audio. It delivers a rich, dynamic and quiet direct signal with the classic vintage warmth of the 73 series. Made of 14-gauge steel and equipped with -15 dB PAD, Ground Lift and power supply via +48 V phantom, it combines ruggedness and professional sound quality for bass, guitar, synths and keyboards. Dual Channel "73-Infused" Active DI Box The 73 DI 2 brings the celebrated 73 series sound to a dual-channel active DI box designed to deliver professional performance both in the studio and on stage. With its three-transistor topology, Class A JFET input stage, and custom 73-DI transformers, it is capable of returning a rich, dynamic direct signal full of analog character. The rugged 14-gauge steel enclosure makes it perfectly suited for intensive use, while all connections are recessed for easy and safe operation. This DI box is distinguished by a Class A JFET input circuit, inherits Heritage Audio's legendary 3055-driven topology, and uses in-house designed 73-DI transformers to deliver a low impedance balanced output with high noise rejection. High headroom allows use on passive instruments such as bass and guitar, as well as on keyboards, drum machines and samplers, with amazing results. Professional-grade thick steel chassis, MIL-spec circuits with full ground plane and metal switches ensure reliability and durability. Features such as -15 dB PAD, input impedance of about 2.3 MΩ (without PAD) and Ground Lift round out the feature set designed for serious use. Direct sound, with the vintage soul that makes all the difference. This carefully crafted, precision-engineered design is what gives the 73 DI 2 outstanding performance, delivering rich, dynamic direct sound that fully captures the harmonic complexity of any instrument-and even pre-recorded tracks. The sturdy yet elegant extruded aluminum chassis makes the 73 DI 2 virtually indestructible , it is perfect for those who work with multiple simultaneous sources and need the same sound quality for each channel. It can be used in the studio to connect keyboards, synths, drum machines and basses directly to the mixer or audio interface, maintaining the instrument's natural response and adding that analog "warmth" that sets the 73 series apart. On stage it is ideal for handling complex setups without compromise: each channel works at the same level, with reliability and character. Even vintage instruments such as Rhodes or Wurlitzer find new life thanks to the headroom, full body, and controlled musical saturation that this unit offers.

  • Microphone input impedance: HI, minimum 1200 Ohms, LO, minimum 300 Ohms. Higher gain positions have gradually higher impedances, optimal for low-gain ribbon microphones. The input is transformer balanced and floating.
  • Line input impedance: 10KOhms bridged, balanced via transformer and floating.
  • Output impedance: Less than 75 Ohms, balanced via transformer and floating, to drive a 600 Ohm load.
  • Maximum output: Greater than +26.5 dBu into 600 Ohms (internally terminated)
  • THD: Less than 0.025% at 1 kHz, less than 0.05% at 100 Hz.
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz (+0.3 dB) to 20 kHz (-0.2 dB). EQ off. For frequency response with EQ enabled, see the characteristics section.
  • Maximum gain: Slightly above 80 dB.
  • Equivalent input noise: Less than -125 dBu with microphone gain of 80 dB.
  • Output stage noise: Less than -100 dBu.
  • Power consumption: Less than 150 mA at 48 VDC.
