Phonitor 3 DAC is the ultimate headphone amplifier and monitor controller with 120 V technology, the built-in DAC makes it the perfect monitoring center for demanding producers, sound and mastering engineers working with digital sources or directly in the DAW. Whether USB, AES/EBU or S/PDIF, the SLP120's built-in analog-converting DAC converts digital PCM audio signals with 32-bit resolution and a sampling rate of up to 768 kHz. It converts DSD signals with a resolution up to DSD256. On the analog side, the Phonitor 3 DAC, based on SPL 120 V technology, offers the same monitoring quality, for speakers and headphones, as the large SPL mastering consoles . The analog Phonitor Matrix enables mixing and mastering in headphones with the highest quality , with the same spatial perception of the stereo panorama as on speakers.
The Phonitor 3 DAC has a standard headphone connection with a stereo jack socket on the front. Thanks to the huge output power, all types of headphones can be driven effortlessly. In this way it takes advantage of SPL 120 V technology and gives the listener an honest, detailed, yet crisp sound experience.
On the back of the device, the Phonitor 3 DAC has a stereo output that makes it a high-quality monitor controller for any monitoring situation. Active speakers with a built-in power amplifier or passive speakers in combination with a power amplifier can be connected to this output.
Phonitor 3 DAC guarantees the same SPL 120 V technology that corresponds to the same signal quality as the large SPL DMC and MMC mastering consoles
The output switch: simply switches between headphone and speaker playback. In the middle position (Mute) no signal reaches the outputs. VU meters light up red.
Up to six stereo sources can be connected to the Phonitor 3 DAC. The source is selected via the Source switch.

On the digital side, the Phonitor 3 DAC offers four digital stereo inputs. USB The USB input (type B) can be used to connect the DAW directly. No driver installation is required for operation with a Mac or iDevice. Via USB, the Phonitor 3 DAC converts PCM audio signals with a resolution of 32 bits and a sampling rate up to 768 kHz, as well as DSD signals with a resolution up to DSD256.
The S/PDIF coaxial input can also receive a two-channel signal (PCM audio) with sample rates up to 192 kHz and a bit rate of 16 bits to 24 bits. Unbalanced 2-wire 75-ohm coaxial cables with RCA connectors are used for signal transmission.
The S/PDIF optical input can also receive a two-channel signal (PCM audio) with sample rates up to 192 kHz and a 16-bit to 24-bit bit rate. The input jack is an F05 jack. This interface is better known by the brand name Toshiba TOSLINK. Tip: You should give importance to the quality of the optical fiber. With cheap plastic optical fibers, transmissions with quadruple sample rates (176.4kHz/192kHz) may have errors. In this case, a glass fiber optic cable should be chosen. AES/EBU The AES input is provided with an input jack that corresponds to a standard XLR input (XLR, female). An AES signal can carry two PCM audio channels encoded with a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz and a bit rate between 16 bits and 24 bits. This standard is defined in IEC 60958 Type I. Balanced 3-conductor, 110-ohm "twisted pair" cables with XLR connectors are used for connection.
