Moog Music Minimoog Model D 2022 Edition

Moog Music has officially resumed production of the Minimoog Model D, the world's first portable synth still considered the synthesizer par excellence.

After 35 years in Asheville, they decided to put their flagship model back into production using the same handcrafted manufacturing procedures and components. No changes have been made to the signal path and sound generation engine, but some important new features have been introduced that do not alter the sonic potential of the first edition but greatly enrich it.

The main changes introduced with the new edition of the Minimoog Model D include a Fatar keyboard with velocity and after pressure, a dedicated LFO with square and triangle waveforms, CV outputs for pitch, gate, velocity, and after pressure, basic MIDI integration, and a modification to the mixer that allows for even more sound pressure and overdrive. Every single unit of the Minimoog Model D is hand-built in the Moog Factory in Asheville by Moog employees who themselves own the company. Due to the complexity of the construction process, only a limited amount of units per month can be produced, and the wait time to get hold of this highly sought-after synth could be quite long.
